"America Letters" were anxiously awaited all over Norway.  They included information about the experiences of friends and family on their journey to America, and what they found when they arrived in the immigrant communities that were usually their first homes.   Letters were often passed around the community, and they helped stoke the "America Fever" that brought so many Norwegians to American shores.
