| Comments: | I am searching for ancestors of my great grandparents who immigrated to Wisconsin from Hov, Sondre Land in 1904. They were Martin Hansen (Hoff, Lovlien, Nordlid) b. 2-2-1870 and Johanne Hansdatter Nybakken Nordli b. 12-17-1862. Martin's father, I believe was Hans Olsen b. 1827 Fluberg, S. Land and his mother was Marthe Petersdatter, b. 1829? in Hof, S. Land. Martin's sisters were Olava, Hanna Hansdatter b. 1866, and Marie. Martin's brothers were Peter Halsrud and Johan Hansen b. 1863 Vestrum farm Fluberg. I know nothing about Johanne Hansdatter Nordli Mybakken except her birth date of 12-17-1862. She may have been born in Oslo. My great grandparents, Martin and Johanne used the name Lovlien in the U.S. and their youngest child, Josephine, born in 1905 is still alive. I would like to get information on her family to share with her. |

I know he had a brother, Peter, and a sister, Marie. He used the name Hoff Lovlien when he registered to emigrate. My great grandmother's name was Johanne Hansdatter Nybakken (Nordli) b. 1863. In the 1875 census for SondreLand she was living in Hof with her mother, Sigrid Sjursdatter, a widow, born in 1838 in Aurdal. Her siblings were Gulbrand Hansen b. 1864, Sjur Hansen b. 1868, Hans Hansen b. 1873, Emil Hansen b. 1875, and Randine Hansdatter b. 1869. |

My other Great Grandfater on my Dad's side came from the Bjugstadhogden farm in Vardal--he emigrated in 1857 and also settled in Ettrick, WI. father's family came from the Dovre area. Moved down
to Karmoy (Ferkingstad) and then to USA in 1903 We had a very nice trip to Norway. Snedkerlien farm (north) at Dovre. Talked to an elderly man by the name of Gunnar that has the Dovre church records, would love to find out about my family. Kolstad (1913-1997) came from Dokka, Norde Land. During the 1930's she
travelled all over USA, working as a skijumper. She was actually one of
the first professional skijumpers from Norway. Some years ago, a book
was written about her, but her life and career in America was mostly
based on old newspapers, so there is actually not much we know about her

He was in Catskill, New York by early 1850's, apparently as single young man....as clerk in woolen industry, lodging with John von Bergen. I feel he may be from the Bergen area... and with this name quite uncommon in Norway... maybe was from Scottish or Flemish family linked to the Hanseatic League. My GGrandmother was Karoline Hansdatter, and her husband was Johannes Johannesen. Their daughter, Anna, was born in Dokka-May 14, 1883. Karoline immigrated with her children to Iowa, USA in 1885.Other children were: Even(Edward) Helmer, b. 1873 and Nettie, b. 1875, also in Dokka. Anders was born on the Sondre Strom farm in Torpa Parish, Oppland (Kristian) He also resided on the Brattlien Farm. He is buried (along with numerous other relatives) at the Aamot Lutheran Church Cemetery, Torpa, Norway. The farm names have undoubtedly long changed, but what of the cemetery? Anyone familiar with this area?? |

mame Goplen. Her father Harald, also from Torpa, married Margot in 1947. Harald died in 1983, but Margot still lives at Dokka. They have three children, the twin girls Gerd and Astrid, and the younger brother Nils Harald. Gerd married Knut M. Wadet, from Elverum in Østerdalen, in 1976. They (we) have one son, Knut Aksel. Astrid is married to Sigmund, from Fluberg, Søndre Land. Nils Harald is married to Anne from Tromsø and they live there. |

Nord Torpa. His wife Oline Hansen Sveen from Nord Torpa also. Ancestor (Andrew Anderson (Anders Arnesen)in Norway, my great grandfather came from Hadeland. His wife Martha Paulsdtr also came from Hadeland. Looking for relatives in Hadeland. Probably brothers and sisters of Andrew and Martha. All of the children of Andrew and Martha came to America in about 1882 or 1883. |
